Regular Season Round 21: Neptunas - Nevezis 81-64

There was no surprise in Klaipeda where 9th ranked Nevezis (6-19) was defeated by third ranked Neptunas (18-6) 81-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 48-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Neptunas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International forward Edgaras Zelionis (207-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) chipped in 14 points. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Lester Medford (178-93, college: Baylor, agency: 3Eye) with 21 points and 5 assists and power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Nevezis' coach Ramunas Cvirka rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Neptunas maintains third place with 18-6 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 19 games lost. Neptunas will meet at home bottom-ranked Vytautas (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will play against the league's leader Zalgiris and hope to secure a win.
