There was a minor upset when 4th placed Mersin BSB (12-7) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Istanbul Uni (2-17) 78-72 on Sunday. Istanbul Uni outrebounded Mersin BSB 33-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Istanbul Uni especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a great evening for Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) helped adding 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) responded with 30 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and international guard Asena Yalcin (170-91, agency: Fly Basketball) scored 6 points and 11 assists. Istanbul Uni maintains sixth place with 2-17 record. Mersin BSB at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Istanbul Uni will face Bornova (#7) at home in the next round. Mersin BSB will play against Besiktas in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
