Regular Season Round 28: Fortuna - Siauliai-Univ. 69-39

Bottom-ranked Siauliai-Univ. (0-23) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-39 loss to fourth ranked Fortuna (12-12) in Klaipeda. The game without a history. Fortuna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Siauliai-Univ. to just 6 points in fourth quarter and to 13 points in second half. They outrebounded Siauliai-Univ. 55-26 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fortuna players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Siauliai-Univ.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of Roberta Mizgeryte (188-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. The former international guard Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Point guard Dominyka Paliulyte (172-1) replied with 11 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Urte Bukauskaite (178-94) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Siauliai-Univ.Fortuna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-12 record. Siauliai-Univ. at the other side still closes the standings. Fortuna will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siauliai-Univ. will play at home against Aistes-LSU (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
