Very predictable result when second ranked Tofas (17-3) beat on the road 9th ranked Istanbul BBSK (8-12) 80-73. Tofas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who scored that evening 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Tofas' coach Orhun Ene allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) did not help to save the game for Istanbul BBSK. Serbian power forward Stefan Bircevic (210-89) added 11 points for the hosts. Four Istanbul BBSK players scored in double figures. Tofas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Istanbul BBSK lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Tofas' next round opponent will be Banvit (#7) in Balikesir where they are favorite. Istanbul BBSK will play on the road against Usak Sportlif and hope to win that game.
