Regular Season Round 15: Interkhim - Chaika 88-61
Date: March 10, 2018
No shocking result in a game in Odessa where second ranked Interkhim (17-3) smashed 5th ranked Chaika (10-11) 88-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 57-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Interkhim dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Chaika's 28. They outrebounded Chaika 49-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. Interkhim looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international center Kristina Karp (196-98) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (178-78) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Angelica Lyashko (174-0) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Interkhim maintains second place with 17-3 record having nine points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Newly promoted Chaika dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Interkhim will face Dynamo-NPU (#3) in Kyiv in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chaika will play on the road against Rivne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
