Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Mainz (8-15) was defeated on the road by third ranked Koblenz (18-5) 98-86 on Saturday. Koblenz made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Marlin Mason (201-93, college: Cleveland St.) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Croatian guard Andro Anzulovic (192-91) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Koblenz's coach Josip Bosnjak allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) who recorded 24 points and 9 assists and swingman Philipp Schoen (196-87) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Koblenz have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South-West with 18-5 record having just three points less than leader Muenster. Loser Mainz keeps the tenth place with 15 games lost. Koblenz will face Limburg (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
