There was a minor upset when 9th ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (8-13) were defeated at home by eleventh ranked Goettingen (5-17) 69-57. Goettingen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to TV Saarlouis Royals' 34. Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and guard Jennifer Crowder (164-96) accounted for 13 points. Goettingen's coach Giannis Koukos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvian forward Sabine Niedola (184-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and French-Luxembourg Magaly Meynadier (170-91) added 18 points respectively for TV Saarlouis Royals in the defeat. Newly promoted Goettingen maintains eleventh place with 5-17 record. TV Saarlouis Royals at the other side keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Goettingen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Fireballs (#4) in Bad Aibling and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
