Regular Season Round 24: Westerstede - Vechta II 82-88

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Westerstede (9-11) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Vechta-2 (12-8) 88-82 on Sunday. Vechta-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Westerstede's 34. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Neven Zeravica (205-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. American swingman Robert Crawford (201-90, college: Cent.Arkansas) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Nigel Pruitt (201-94, college: Kennesaw St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Marcello Schroeder (195-87) added 29 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Vechta-2 maintains fifth position in North with 12-8 record. Loser Westerstede keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Vechta-2 will face Goetting.ASC (#7) in Goettingen in the next round. Westerstede will play on the road against ALBA-2 in Berlin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
