The game in Samokov supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Akademik Sofia (5-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Rilski 2 (1-7). Akademik Sofia smashed Rilski 2 104-77 on Sunday. Akademik Sofia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (206-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and point guard Georgi Damyanov (180-99) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Akademik Sofia's coach Ivan Kocev felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Kaloyan Stoyanov (176-99) responded with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Miroslav Vasov (198-98) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Rilski 2 players scored in double figures. Akademik Sofia maintains second position in A with 5-2 record behind leader CSKA. Loser Rilski 2 keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Akademik Sofia will face Chernomorets (#5) in Burgas in the next round. Rilski 2 will play on the road against Vidabasket in Vidin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
