The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (15-4) on the court of second ranked Homburger TG on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Homburger TG 69-67. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Eisvogel Freiburg. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South. Homburger TG looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for Spanish Nerea Garmendia who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Canadian guard Alexandra Polishchuk (168-87, college: Laurentian) contributed with 13 points and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Kirsten Gaffney (185) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and international Luana Rodefeld (172-97) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Eisvogel Freiburg. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Homburger TG maintains second place in South with 15-5 record having just one point less than leader Freiburg. Eisvogel Freiburg at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Homburger TG will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Eisvogel Freiburg will play at home against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg and is hoping to win this game.
