There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Yalova Vip (5-19) crushed 14th ranked Fenerbahce G. (5-17) in Istanbul 69-50 on Sunday. Yalova Vip forced 19 Fenerbahce G. turnovers. It was a very good performance for American forward Corinne Costa (193-92, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Sumeyya Ozcan (160-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Melisa Korkmaz (172-97) answered with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her eight free throws) and forward Merve Ari (175-98) added 4 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Fenerbahce G.Yalova Vip moved-up to fifteenth place. Newly promoted Fenerbahce G. keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Yalova Vip will face higher ranked Urla BLD (#7) in Izmir in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
