Everything went according to plan when second ranked ALBA Berlin (19-4) defeated on the road 16th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (5-18) 99-85 on Sunday. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's players. The winners were led by international point guard Joshiko Saibou (188-90) who scored that evening 20 points and 4 assists and American center Dennis Clifford (216-92, college: Boston Coll.) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by American center Geoffrey Groselle (212-93, college: Creighton) did not help to save the game for Eisbaeren Bremerhaven. His fellow American import point guard Jordan Hulls (180-90, college: Indiana) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ALBA Berlin have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-4 record having just three points less than leader B.Muenchen. Loser Eisbaeren Bremerhaven keeps the sixteenth place with 18 games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet at home BG Goettingen (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against EWE Baskets in Oldenburg and hope to secure a win.
