Regular Season Round 15: Kyiv Basket - Vinnystkiye M. 90-66

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kyiv. Leader Kyiv Basket faced 4th placed Vinnystkiye M.. Host Kyiv Basket (23-0) smashed guests from Vinnytsia (9-14) 90-66. The game was mostly controlled by Kyiv Basket. Vinnystkiye M. was better in fourth quarter 27-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyiv Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vinnystkiye M.'s 36. Kyiv Basket forced 21 Vinnystkiye M. turnovers and outrebounded them 50-38 including 19 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for the former international power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). International swingman Vita Horobets (180-96, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Kyiv Basket's coach Volodimir Kholopov felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Viktoriya Khomiak (170-95) answered with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Alisa Nazarevich added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Vinnystkiye M.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket have an impressive series of twenty victories in a row. Newly promoted Kyiv Basket maintains first place with 23-0 record. Vinnystkiye M. at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 14 games lost. They share it with HAI. Kyiv Basket will play against bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka (#8) in Kherson in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vinnystkiye M. will play at home against HAI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
