Regular Season Round 22: Nevezis - Zalgiris 73-79

LKL top team - Zalgiris (22-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Nevezis (6-20) in Kedainiai 79-73. The guests were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-17 Nevezis' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 79-73 at the end of the game. Zalgiris dominated on the defensive end, holding Nevezis to just 6 points in first quarter. American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-3 record. Nevezis lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 20 games lost. Zalgiris will play against Siauliai (#5) at home in the next round. Nevezis will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#6) in Pasvalys and hopes to get back on the winning track.
