Regular Season Round 27: Wels - Vienna 88-94

The biggest surprise of round 27 was guest Vienna's (14-11) road victory over 4th placed Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (13-12) 94-88 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 27-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Vienna made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Czech center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, college: Iowa St., agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) chipped in 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Elijah Wilson (193-94, college: Co.Carolina) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Tyler Hines (198-90, college: Md-E Shore) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Five Raiffeisen Flyers Wels players scored in double figures. Vienna have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Vienna are looking forward to face higher ranked Arkadia Lions (#3) in Traiskirchen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will play at home against Gunners Oberwart and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
