Very important is a home loss of second ranked Tofas (17-4) against seventh ranked Banvit (13-8) on Saturday night. Host Tofas was defeated by Banvit in Bursa 104-93. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Tofas. Banvit shot 64.5 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Banvit looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed 16 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and international swingman Tolga Gecim (206-96) accounted for 12 points and 8 assists. Banvit's coach Saso Filipovski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) came up with 16 points and 8 assists and the other American import power forward Raymar Morgan (203-88, college: Michigan St.) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Tofas in the defeat. Four Banvit and five Tofas players scored in double figures. Banvit moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Sakarya BSB. Loser Tofas keeps the second position with four games lost. Banvit will meet at home bottom-ranked Usak Sportlif (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tofas will play against Anadolu Efes (#4) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
