Regular Season Round 20: Yambol - Spartak Pleven 116-106
Date: March 17, 2018
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Yambol (6-12) beat at home bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (1-17) 116-106 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Yambol. Spartak Pleven managed to win third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Yambol shot 62.5 percent from the field and made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Yambol especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The winners were led by American guard Bryquis Perine (190-88, college: Green Bay, agency: Promotex) who scored that evening 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import guard Alan Arnett (196, college: Georgia SW) supported him with 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Yambol's coach Ivan Cholakov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists by point guard Milen Dudev (178-94) did not help to save the game for Spartak Pleven. Guard Gerasim Nikolov (188-93) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Four Yambol and five Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Yambol maintains seventh position with 6-12 record. Spartak Pleven lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Yambol will meet higher ranked Beroe (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak Pleven will play against Levski Lukoil (#3) and hope to win that game.
