Regular Season Round 23: Zalgiris - Siauliai 69-58

LKL top team - Zalgiris (23-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Siauliai (10-16) in Kaunas 69-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Siauliai. Siauliai was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Zalgiris players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for the former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who led the winners and scored 14 points. American Aaron White (206-92, college: Iowa) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. International power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) came up with 8 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Arminas Urbutis (206-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Octagon Europe) added 11 points respectively for Siauliai in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 23-3 record. Siauliai at the other side keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Zalgiris will play against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys in the next round. Siauliai will play at home against the league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
