Regular Season Round 26: Hoverla - Dinamo 76-74

Important game to mention about took place in Ivano-Frankivsk. Second ranked Hoverla (18-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging top-ranked Dinamo (20-3) 76-74 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Dinamo. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Dinamo took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hoverla took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Dinamo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Volodymyr Orlenko (212-85) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Oleksandr Shostuha (191-84) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 5 assists by the former international swingman Rostyslav Kryvych (197-78) did not help to save the game for Dinamo. Point guard Sergiy Alfyorov (189-84) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Hoverla have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-2 record having six points less than leader Dinamo. Newly promoted Dinamo still keeps top place with three games lost. Hoverla will again play against league's leader Dinamo in Odessa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dinamo will have a break next round.
