Regular Season Round 19: Virum - Vaerlose 81-65

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Virum (15-5) beat at home bottom-ranked Vaerlose (2-18) 81-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Virum. Vaerlose managed to win fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Virum dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 24. They outrebounded Vaerlose 47-27 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Ellen Iversen (180-97) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Virum players scored in double figures. Virum's coach used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Forward Annemie Espensen (179-97) came up with 21 points and forward Ellen Svendsen (176-99) added 11 points respectively for Vaerlose in the defeat. Defending champion maintains second place with 15-5 record having just two points less than leader Horsholm. Vaerlose lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games.
