Superleague top team - Kyiv Basket (25-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Tavriyska Zirka (0-25) in Kherson 105-52. The game without a history. Kyiv Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tavriyska Zirka to just 6 points in first quarter. Kyiv Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tavriyska Zirka's 28. Kyiv Basket forced 27 Tavriyska Zirka turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Tavriyska Zirka's players. The winners were led by center Veronika Liubinets (188-99) who scored that evening 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Xeniya Afanasyeva (171-93) supported her with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Even 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Marharyta Hliebova (187-96) did not help to save the game for Tavriyska Zirka. Forward Viktoriya Antonyuk (180-96) added 11 points for lost side. Tavriyska Zirka's coach Oleksiy Davidov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kyiv Basket have an impressive 22-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kyiv Basket maintains first position with 25-0 record. Loser Tavriyska Zirka still closes the standings. Kyiv Basket will meet Chaika (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Tavriyska Zirka will play against Vinnystkiye M. in Vinnytsia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
