Regular Season Round 23: Dzukija - Vytautas 82-79

Tenth-ranked Vytautas (5-21) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Dzukija (9-17) in Alytus. Dzukija managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 29-16 last quarter charge of Vytautas cut the lead to 82-79 at the end of the game. American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. International forward Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and American guard LiAngelo Ball (196-98, college: UCLA, agency: Slash Sports) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Vytautas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Dzukija moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Juventus. Vytautas lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Dzukija's next round opponent will be higher ranked P.Zvaigzdes (#6) in Pasvalys and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vytautas will play at home against Nevezis (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
