Regular Season Round 27: Fenerbahce G. - Elazig 75-91

There was no surprise in Istanbul where 14th ranked Fenerbahce G. (5-19) was defeated by eighth ranked Elazig (15-11) 91-75 on Wednesday. Elazig outrebounded Fenerbahce G. 53-28 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for guard Nihan Demirkol (172-92, agency: Fly Basketball) who led her team to a victory scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) helped adding 17 points and 21 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international guard Pelin Bilgic (175-94, agency: Fly Basketball) with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists and international center Tilbe Senyurek (190-95) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Elazig have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 15-11 record. Fenerbahce G. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Mersin Gelisim. Elazig will meet at home higher ranked Urla BLD (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fenerbahce G. will play against Edremit (#5) in Balikesir and hope to secure a win.
