The most exciting game of round 1 in the LPB took place in Porto. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of FC Porto Ferpinta (17-6) to Oliveirense (19-4) 92-89 in the game for the second place. 24 personal fouls committed by FC Porto Ferpinta helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international point guard Jose Barbosa (178-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and international forward Joao Guerreiro (205-90) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) responded with 27 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international Miguel Queiroz (202-91) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Oliveirense and five FC Porto Ferpinta players scored in double figures. FC Porto Ferpinta's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Oliveirense are looking forward to face Vitoria SC (#4) in Guimaraes in the next round. FC Porto Ferpinta will play on the road against Benfica in Lisbona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
