Regular Season Round 22: Canik Belediye - Galatasaray 55-86

The game between Top Four teams took place in Samsun. 3rd ranked host Canik Belediye (7-15) was smashed by second ranked Galatasaray (10-12) 86-55. Galatasaray outrebounded Canik Belediye 37-23 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Canik Belediye's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Forward Duygu Firat (189-90) replied with 15 points and American forward Taylor Manuel (193-93, college: Mississippi) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Canik Belediye. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Galatasaray keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Canik Belediye lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the third place with 15 games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be league's leader Abdullah Gul in Kayseri and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canik Belediye will play on the road against Fenerbahce in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
