Regular Season Round 28: Mariupol - Niko-Basket 82-93

An interesting game for Niko-Basket (21-5) which played road game in Mariupol against 4th ranked Mariupol (13-13). First ranked Niko-Basket managed to get a 11-point victory 93-82. The game was mostly controlled by Niko-Basket. Mariupol was better in third quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Niko-Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Mariupol's 44. They outrebounded Mariupol 42-17 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Niko-Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Mariupol's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Mykhailo Horobchenko (182-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists and the former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. Niko-Basket's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side the former international guard Alexander Skutyelnik (192-77) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and guard Vladyslav Ryzhov (190-94) scored 19 points. Niko-Basket maintains first position with 21-5 record. Mariupol at the other side keeps the fourth place with 13 games lost. Niko-Basket will play against Ch.Mavpy 2 (#8) in Cherkasy in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mariupol will play at home against Kharkivski Sokoly (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
