Second Stage Round 12: Asenovets - Levski 45-55

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Asenovets (4-6) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Levski (3-7) 55-45. It looked good early as Asenovets took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Levski had a 20-6 second period charge getting the lead and Asenovets was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 45-55. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Asenovets to just 6 points in second quarter. Levski held Asenovets to an opponent 20.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Asenovets 58-40 including a 44-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Viktoria Koycheva (178-0) who led her team to a victory with 8 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Emilia Teneva (182-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Levski's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Hristina Geraskova (180-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Petya Argirova (166-0) added 9 points and 8 steals in the effort for Asenovets. Newly promoted Levski maintains ninth position in Places 5-10 with 3-7 record. Asenovets at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
