There was no surprise in Barreiro where Barreirense (3-21) was defeated by Lusitania (10-14) 84-80 on Sunday. Lusitania outrebounded Barreirense 48-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Dominique Coleman (198-88, college: Francis Marion) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Four Lusitania players scored in double figures. Guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Phillip Lawrence (201, college: Marist) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Lusitania will meet at home Terceira (#10) in the next round. Barreirense will play against Ovarense and hope to secure a win.
