Second Stage Round 1: Pitesti - CSU Sibiu 81-98

An exciting game was played in Pitesti. CSU Sibiu faced Pitesti. Guests from Sibiu (20-4) defeated host Pitesti (13-11) 98-81. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when CSU Sibiu's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Pitesti's 34. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Lawrence Kinnard (203-86, college: UAB) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. FYR Macedonian point guard Aleksandar Kostoski (186-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and the former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pitesti. Five CSU Sibiu and four Pitesti players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSU Sibiu will play against Steaua CSM (#4) in Bucuresti in the next round. Pitesti will play on the road against Oradea and hopes to get back on the winning track.
