Fourth-ranked Steaua CSM (17-8) was very close to win a game against CSU Sibiu (21-4) on Friday. CSU Sibiu managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected easier game. Steaua CSM was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of CSU Sibiu, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Steaua CSM helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Tyler Laser (185-88, college: E.Illinois) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points. The other American import Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Court Side) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 25 points and American swingman Jonte Flowers (196-85, college: Winona St.) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Steaua CSM. Steaua CSM's coach Jukka Toijala tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. CSU Sibiu are looking forward to face Oradea (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Steaua CSM will play against BC Timisoara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
