Second Stage Round 5: Zlatorog - Hopsi Polzela 78-83

Undefeated Zlatorog (4-1) recorded its first loss in Lasko on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by leader Hopsi Polzela (5-0) 83-78. Zlatorog was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-16 charge of Hopsi Polzela, which allowed them to win the game. They shot 60.4 percent from the field. 27 personal fouls committed by Zlatorog helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Tjaz Rotar (185-94) who scored 18 points and 5 assists. Naturalized Serbian center Ivan Drzic (204-83) chipped in 16 points. Point guard Nejc Baric (183-97, agency: PEPI SPORT) produced 21 points and Montenegrin forward Marko Popovic (200-85) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Zlatorog players scored in double figures. Hopsi Polzela maintains ninth place in Nova KBM with 5-0 record. Zlatorog at the other side keeps the tenth position with one game lost. Hopsi Polzela are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Celje (#14) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zlatorog will play against Sezana (#13) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
