There was an upset in Aveiro where higher ranked Estoril Basket (10-14) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Beira Mar (9-16) 73-57 on Saturday. Beira Mar dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Estoril Basket's 32. It was a great evening for American forward Andre Jackson (198, college: Bowie St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Forward Joao Neves (193-91) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Beira Mar's coach Carlos Cabral used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Alexey Kaputskiy (192-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Miguel Bastos (-99) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Four Estoril Basket players scored in double figures. Beira Mar moved-up to fourteenth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Academico FC. Loser Estoril Basket dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Beira Mar will face Academico FC (#14) in Porto in the next round.
