Regular Season Round 18: Tavriyska Zirka - Interkhim 73-81

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka (0-28) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-73 loss to second ranked Interkhim (20-6) in Kherson. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-13. But Tavriyska Zirka won second period 18-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Interkhim forced 20 Tavriyska Zirka turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for Daria Safonova (185-0) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Center Diana Bondaryuk (197-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Anastasiya Andriyets (186-91) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Marharyta Hliebova (187-96) added 13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the effort for Tavriyska Zirka. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Interkhim maintains second position with 20-6 record having eight points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Tavriyska Zirka at the other side still closes the standings. Interkhim will play against Chaika (#6) in Berdiansk in the next round. Tavriyska Zirka will play on the road against HAI in Kharkiv and hopes to get finally their first victory.
