An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Istanbul. Third ranked Fenerbahce faced 4th placed Canik Belediye. Host Fenerbahce (18-5) smashed guests from Samsun (7-16) 76-51. Fenerbahce outrebounded Canik Belediye 47-20 including a 37-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Czech-American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Coach Valerie Garnier's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Taylor Manuel (193-93, college: Mississippi) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Yasemin Dalgalar (183-88) added 10 points respectively for Canik Belediye in the defeat. Fenerbahce maintains third place with 18-5 record having just seven point less than leader Cukurova. Canik Belediye lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. Fenerbahce's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Abdullah Gul in Kayseri and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canik Belediye will play at home against Ormanspor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
