Second Stage Round 4: Benfica - Oliveirense 89-88

The most exciting game of round 4 in the LPB took place in Lisbona. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Oliveirense (21-5) to first ranked Benfica (22-4) 89-88 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Oliveirense. It was a key game for the top position in Places 1-6. Benfica made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) who added 14 points and 9 assists during the contest. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Benfica players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward James Ellisor (195-90, college: Bemidji St.) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Defending champion maintains first position in Places 1-6 with 22-4 record. Oliveirense at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Benfica are looking forward to face CAB Madeira (#5) in Funchal in the next round. Oliveirense will play at home against Illiabum and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
