Regular Season Round 24: Cukurova - Mersin BSB 74-67

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Mersin: Cukurova (#7) and Mersin BSB (#6). Cukurova (14-10) won against visiting Mersin BSB (13-11) 74-67. Cukurova looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) who led her team to a victory with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Diamond Deshields (185-95, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cukurova's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (187-95) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds and American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Mersin BSB. Four Mersin BSB players scored in double figures. Cukurova moved-up to sixth place. Mersin BSB lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Cukurova are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bornova (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin BSB will play against Canik Belediye (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
