Second Stage Round 4: Steaua CSM - Pitesti 80-59

There was no surprise in Bucuresti where 6th ranked Pitesti (14-13) was crushed by fourth ranked Steaua CSM (18-9) 80-59. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua CSM. Pitesti was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pitesti 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American point guard Brandon Taylor (178-94, college: Utah) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Steaua CSM's coach Jukka Toijala felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Nick Russell (193-91, college: SMU) replied with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points in the effort for Pitesti. Steaua CSM maintains fourth position in Nationala with 18-9 record. Pitesti at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. Steaua CSM will play against higher ranked Oradea (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pitesti will play against BC Timisoara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
