Regular Season Round 25: Istanbul Univ. - Botas 74-66

An interesting game took place in Istanbul where 4th placed Botas (15-9) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked Istanbul Uni (4-20) 74-66 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Botas. Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Swedish guard Frida Eldebrink (174-88, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Elif Emirtekin (184-94, agency: Fly Basketball) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Four Botas players scored in double figures. Istanbul Uni moved-up to eighth place. Loser Botas keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Istanbul Uni will face league's leader Cukurova in Mersin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Botas will play at home against the league's leader Besiktas having rather not much hope for a victory.
