Regular Season Round 26: Dzukija - Zalgiris 60-82

LKL top team - Zalgiris (25-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Dzukija (9-20) in Alytus 82-60. Dzukija was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 43-19 second half run of Zalgiris. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dzukija to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Dzukija 37-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Dzukija was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Slovenian point guard Beno Udrih (190-82) notched 11 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Even 14 points by American point guard Charles Callison (183-94, college: Washington St.) did not help to save the game for Dzukija. American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-4 record. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 20 games lost. Zalgiris will play against Neptunas (#3) in Klaipeda in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dzukija will play on the road against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys and hopes to get back on the winning track.
