Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Fenerbahce (20-5) won against visiting Galatasaray (11-13) 75-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) nailed 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Czech-American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach Valerie Garnier allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Montenegrin center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, agency: ProDep Management) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Galatasaray in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fenerbahce. They maintain third place with 20-5 record having just seven point less than leader Cukurova which they share with defeated Galatasaray. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the third position with 13 games lost. Fenerbahce will play against Adana ASKI (#7) in Mersin in the next round. Galatasaray will play at home against Ormanspor (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
