Regular Season Round 27: Zalgiris - Neptunas 94-47
Date: April 10, 2018
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kaunas. First ranked Zalgiris faced 3rd placed Neptunas. Host Zalgiris (26-4) smashed guests from Klaipeda (22-8) 94-47. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Neptunas' players. It was a great evening for Slovenian point guard Beno Udrih (190-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 19 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The best for the losing side was American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) with 9 points and international forward Edgaras Zelionis (207-89) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 26-4 record. Loser Neptunas keeps the third position with eight games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neptunas will play against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
