Second Stage Round 7: Ilirija - Helios 66-83

Very significant was Helios' (#7) 17-point road victory against 6th ranked Ilirija 83-66. Helios made 24-of-27 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Ilirija turnovers. Ilirija was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 4 assists. Guard Jure Pelko (190-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Helios players scored in double figures. Center Haris Cucovic (206-98) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Luka Voncina (193-91, college: Charlotte) added 14 points respectively for Ilirija in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Helios (3-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rogaska and Sencur Gor. Newly promoted Ilirija dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Helios will play against Tajfun (#8) in Sentjur in the next round. Ilirija's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ljubljana Olimpija.
