Second Stage Round 9: Triglav - Grosbasket 70-35

Date: April 11, 2018
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Triglav (19-4) crushed 6th ranked Grosbasket (8-14) in Kranj 70-35 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-35. Triglav dominated on the defensive end, holding Grosbasket to just 5 points in third quarter and to 11 points in second half. Triglav held Grosbasket to an opponent 21.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Triglav forced 19 Grosbasket turnovers. International Marusa Senicar (183-97) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Ana Saric (182-0) accounted for 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Triglav players scored in double figures. Point guard Maska Gabrijel (170-98) came up with 9 points and center Teja Gorsic (187-99) added 8 points respectively for Grosbasket in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Triglav maintains second place with 19-4 record having four points less than leader Celje. Loser Grosbasket keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Triglav will meet bottom-ranked Domzale (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Grosbasket will play against Maribor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
