The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Balkan (17-4) in Stara Zagora on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by sixth ranked Beroe (10-11) 91-66. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Balkan. The game without a history. Beroe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Balkan's 34. They outrebounded Balkan 39-22 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Beroe looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Darrius Garrett (206-90, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and international forward Aleksandar Yanev-Georgiev (203-90, agency: 011 Sports) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian center Igor Kesar (210-92, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Five Beroe and four Balkan players scored in double figures. Beroe moved-up to fifth place. Balkan at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Beroe are looking forward to face Academic Sofia (#6) on the road in the next round. Balkan will play against Yambol (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
