Regular Season Round 28: Zalgiris - Lietuvos rytas 77-66

An interesting game for Zalgiris (27-4) which hosted in Kaunas their biggest opponent Lietuvos rytas (25-6). First ranked Zalgiris managed to get a 11-point victory 77-66. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Lietuvos rytas was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Zalgiris players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Lietuvos rytas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) who added 9 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) responded with 6 points and 6 assists and international Rokas Giedraitis (200-92) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 27-4 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost. Zalgiris will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#6) in Pasvalys in the next round where they are favorite. Lietuvos rytas will play at home against Siauliai (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
