Everything could happen in Porto at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Beira Mar and 14th ranked Academico FC had identical 9-16 record. But Academico FC was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Aveiro 69-55. 25 personal fouls committed by Academico FC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American forward Andre Jackson (198, college: Bowie St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and guard Goncalo Catarino (173-94) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by power forward Pedro Gouveia (192-94) did not help to save the game for Academico FC. Forward Diogo Oliveira (-96) added 14 points. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Beira Mar (10-16) moved-up to thirteenth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Angra. Academico FC at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Beira Mar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Academica (#10) in Coimbra and it may be quite challenging game. Academico FC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Porto Dragon Force.
