Second Stage Round 6: CSU Sibiu - Pitesti 84-77

Liga Nationala top team - CSU Sibiu (23-6) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Pitesti (14-15) 84-77. It looked good early as Pitesti took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CSU Sibiu had a 32-19 second period charge getting the lead and Pitesti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-84. CSU Sibiu dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Pitesti's 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American point guard Tyler Laser (185-88, college: E.Illinois) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import guard Marcel Davis (188-94, college: Utah Valley) supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. CSU Sibiu's coach Dan Fleseriu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by Ukrainian Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: AproK Sports Group) did not help to save the game for Pitesti. FYR Macedonian point guard Aleksandar Kostoski (186-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 19 points and 4 assists. CSU Sibiu maintains first position in Nationala with 23-6 record. Pitesti at the other side keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. CSU Sibiu will play against Steaua CSM (#3) in Bucuresti in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pitesti will play at home against Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
