Second Stage Round 8: Ilirija - Olimpija 66-89

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Ljubljana: Olimpija (#3) and Ilirija (#7). Ilirija was smashed at home by 23 points 66-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Ilirija was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 47-23 second half run of Olimpija. It was a great shooting night for Olimpija especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. The winners were led by international Gregor Hrovat (196-94) who scored that evening 19 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Croatian guard Roko Badzim (196-97, agency: XL Basketball Agency) supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points by the former international forward Stipe Modric (205-79) did not help to save the game for Ilirija. International point guard Zan Mark Sisko (189-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 5 assists for the hosts. Ilirija's coach Sasa Doncic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion (6-2) keeps a position of Nova KBM leader. Newly promoted Ilirija keeps the seventh place with six games lost. Olimpija's next round opponent will be Tajfun (#8) in Sentjur and are hoping to win another game. Ilirija will play on the road against Rogaska in Rogaska Slatina and hope to win that game.
