Regular Season Round 32: Cankaya - Mersin Gelisim 69-68

Fifteenth-ranked Mersin Gelisim (7-22) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Cankaya (18-13) in Ankara. Cankaya managed to secure only one-point victory 69-68. However their fans expected much easier game. Cankaya players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by center Derin Yaya (174-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) who scored that evening 18 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Vicki Baugh (193-89, college: Tennessee) supported her with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Mersin Gelisim. Point guard Yaren Uslular (167-97, agency: Fly Basketball) added 19 points and 6 assists for the guests. Cankaya maintains seventh position with 18-13 record. Mersin Gelisim lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Fenerbahce G.. Cankaya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mersin Gelisim will play at home against Edirne (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
