Second Stage Round 13: Beira Mar - Academica 73-64

We should mention about the upset which took place in Aveiro, where 10th ranked Academica (13-14) lost to thirteenth ranked Beira Mar (11-16) in a road game 64-73 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Academica. They outrebounded Academica 61-28 including a 26-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Andre Jackson (198, college: Bowie St.) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points and 23 rebounds for the winners. Forward Joao Neves (193-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Center Krasimir Pereira (195-95) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Russian forward Alexander Kravtsov (194-87) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Academica players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Beira Mar. They moved-up to twelfth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Angra. Academica at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Beira Mar will face higher ranked Dragon Force (#9) in Porto in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
